Manchester United have officially learned the date and time for their upcoming semi-final clash.
The club’s attention has increasingly turned towards knockout competitions in recent months, particularly following setbacks elsewhere this season.
Manchester United’s first-team were knocked out of the third round after a 2-1 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion, in what proved to be Darren Fletcher’s final game in charge before Michael Carrick was appointed as caretaker boss.
That disappointment was compounded earlier in the campaign.
The Red Devils were also eliminated from the EFL Cup in the second round, losing on penalties to League Two side Grimsby Town in United’s first game of the competition.
With those exits in mind, focus has shifted to another opportunity for silverware.
Now, the schedule for their latest semi-final tie has been confirmed.
According to the Manchester United official website, the fixture will take place on Friday 17 April, with kick-off set for 19:00 BST at Old Trafford.
The match must be decided on the night, meaning extra-time and penalties will be used if required.
The fixture comes in the FA Youth Cup, where United’s next generation are aiming to continue their impressive run in the competition.
In the Quarter-finals, Manchester United defeated Sunderland 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at Old Trafford.
Manchester United were confirmed to face Crystal Palace in the FA Youth Cup semi-final, with a place in the final at stake.
Should they progress, they will face either Manchester City or Blackburn Rovers.
The competition holds significant history for the club.
United have lifted the trophy a record number of times, underlining the important placed on youth development throughout their history.
Despite first-team cup disappointments, this semi-final presents another opportunity for success.
And a chance for the next generation to deliver silverware at Old Trafford.
