Everton are entering a new era under the Friedkin Group, with a clear focus on rebuilding the squad and pushing for long-term stability.

The US-based investment firm completed their takeover of the club in December 2024, bringing an end to Farhad Moshiri’s tenure as owner.

They inherited a team in the midst of yet another turbulent Premier League campaign, once again battling to avoid relegation.

With limited time to act in the January transfer window, the new owners opted against permanent signings, instead relying on loan deals to strengthen the squad. The strategy paid off, as Everton turned around their poor form and finished 13th – 10 points clear of Europa League champions Tottenham Hotspur.

Now, with the summer window approaching, reinforcements are expected as the Friedkin Group look to support a full-scale squad rebuild. One of which – is a done deal.

Carlos Alcaraz deal made permanent by Everton

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Toffees will be purchasing Carlos Alcaraz permanently for a total of £12.6m (€15m), plus add-ons.

The Argentinian midfielder joined the club on loan at the end of the January window with a buy clause in his contract, dependent on nine Premier League starts.

Alcaraz made just seven league starts for Everton, but having scored twice and bagged the winner against Newcastle United on Sunday, it appears Moyes is now keen to keep him around.

Everton have already confirmed four departures

Although Alcaraz has done enough to earn a permanent position, the club have confirmed that four loan players will not return.

Jack Harrison, loaned from Leeds United, may have expected to be kept on after making 73 appearances over two seasons.

Armando Broja, Jesper Lindstrom and Orel Mangala together have made only 61 total appearances for Everton and will likely not be surprised at the outcome.
