The latest clue revealed by Fabrizio Romano suggests that Manchester United are well and truly closing in on an agreement with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
The Premier League giants have been tirelessly pursuing the 25-year-old Cameroonian who is coming off a sensational campaign.
The winger, who scored 20 EPL goals and produced nine assists last term, earned himself a host of suitors, including Arsenal and Newcastle. Moreover, Spurs emerged as a potential destination following the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new head coach. Nevertheless, Mbeumo only has eyes for Man Utd.
Nevertheless, the Red Devils have been struggling to strike an agreement with Brentford who have already rejected at least a couple of offers from INEOS.
But in recent hours, it has been reported that the two clubs have managed to bridge the gap, and that the white smoke could finally emerge in the coming days.
These reports have now been solidified by the latest update issued by Romano who reveals that Brentford are already searching the market for a Mbeumo replacement, identifying Ipswich Omari Hutchinson as the best profile for the role.
“Brentford are showing initial interest in Omari Hutchinson as possible replacement for Bryan Mbeumo in case of exit with Man Utd on it,” posted the Italian journalist on his X account on Monday afternoon.
“Brentford appreciate Hutchinson but no club-to-club talks yet with Ipswich Town.”
