Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Luka Modric is undoubtedly a legend of the game, still at the top of his game even at the age of 38, as he approaches the twilight of his career.

The Croatian international has enjoyed tremendous success with his Real Madrid, securing an impressive tally of 5 Champions League titles and 3 Spanish top-flight championships, among numerous other accolades.

Before arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu, Modric was plying his trade for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Despite departing from North London in the summer of 2012, more than a decade ago, the veteran midfielder recently admitted that he still follows Spurs and keeps tabs on the club.

In an interview with Optus Sport, Modric reflected on his time with the Lilywhites, acknowledging the pivotal role the English club played in his development as a player.

Despite leaving the Premier League, he admitted to still closely following English football, especially Tottenham, showcasing his enduring affection for his former club.

Modric said:

“When you leave the Premier League, you don’t just stop following it. So, I follow the league, specially the teams with Croatian players. And, of course, I still follow Tottenham.”

In the summer of 2008, Spurs secured Modric’s signature from Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb for a significant fee of €22.5 million, fending off competition from Manchester City and Newcastle.

During his four-year stint with the Lilywhites, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner made a total of 160 appearances while contributing with 17 goals and 25 assists.
