Another week of Premier League football is in the books – how did it affect your Fantasy Premier League team?
It was a positive period of fans of teams such as Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham United – meanwhile, fans of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace will be spitting feathers. But how did you perform in FPL this week?
Once again, gameweek 22 has been a difficult one for those who have invested heavily in their strikers – however, with so many clean sheets, it has been a brilliant period of time for defenders and goalkeepers. Have you prepared accordingly?
There were a few high-scoring goalkeepers in FPL this week, but none of them could match the tally that Robert Sanchez amassed. The Spaniard has had his peaks and valleys this season – his performance against Brentford was most certainly a peak.
Elsewhere, Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels scored ten points, while Wolves shot-stopper Jose Sa scored seven points for the gameweek.
It was another gameweek to forget for Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, however, who scored just a single point as the Lilywhites fell to a home defeat against local rivals West Ham.
There is a clear winner for our defender of the week – having picked up an impressive 15 points for his display against Manchester City, Patrick Dorgu put in a fantastic performance for Manchester United in the derby.
Additionally, Malick Thiaw, Lewis Hall, James Justin and Jake O’Brien all picked up nine points over the course of the weekend for their respective displays.
Sadly, Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly wasn’t so lucky. He was brought on at half time against United, going on to concede two goals to end up with a points total of -1.
For once, we can lend Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz a bit of praise here. Alongside Bruno Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, he was one of three midfielders who scored ten points this week.
Meanwhile, despite costing just £4.7m, Marcus Edwards netted a healthy total of nine points for the gameweek. Were you one of the 0.1% of FPL players who has him in their team?
Owners of Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden, two of the most popular players in FPL this year, will be disappointed by their respective performances. They could only muster a point each – Saka didn’t even make it into the starting lineup.
This was, once again, a somewhat fruitless gameweek for strikers in FPL. The highest-scoring forward in gameweek 22 was Sunderland’s Brian Brobbey, who picked up nine points for his goal against Crystal Palace.
In other games, Charalampos Kostoulas, Thierno Barry and Joao Pedro all scored eight points over the course of the weekend.
As for our biggest loser in terms of strikers, you probably already know who we have picked – Erling Haaland put forth a deeply subpar performance against Manchester United on Saturday afternoon. The Norweigian international could barely lay a glove on the Red Devils as he was subbed off in the second half.
