Any match between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid is bound to be tense, and the finale of the Supercopa De España was no different. The situation on the field changed so dramatically that the winner wasn’t certain until the very last whistle. Ultimately, with a score of 3-2, it was Blaugrana who triumphed.

The Warm Up

The match started more lukewarm than fans of either team may have hoped. Barcelona and Real were quite evenly matched. Both noted impressive chances and quick attacks, but no goals were scored in the first half hour. Things shifted after the first mandated cooling break.

Soon after the players returned to their positions, Raphinha found himself in the perfect place to score an opening goal. A change in score seemed imminent until a wrong shot caused him to miss out on the opportunity. Spurred on by the disappointment, he continued pushing. Before long, having dribbled past Real’s defence, he did what he had set out to do and redeemed his earlier mistake, putting Barcelona in the lead.

The Most Hectic Five Minutes

Raphinha’s goal was the only one scored during the standard time of the first half. As the referee announced the few minutes that would be added to it, most fans had begun preparing themselves for the upcoming break. Suddenly, Vinícius Júnior managed a beautiful action that culminated in an impressive shot. Real’s fans erupted in screams, but before they could properly celebrate the equaliser, Barcelona answered. Having received the ball from Pedri, Robert Lewandowski did what he does best and scored yet another goal for his team, putting Blaugrana back in the lead.

This still wasn’t the end of the excitement. Encouraged by Vinícius’ shot, Real decided to strike while the iron was hot. They performed attack after attack, and after seven minutes of the added time had passed, their efforts paid off. The ball was first shot right into the top bar of Joan García’s net and then deflected by Raphinha. Despite the defence, Barcelona still wasn’t in the clear. A second later, Gonzalo García kicked the ball into the top bar again, only this time it bounced inside the goal. The playing field was leveled once more.

Heated Second Half

Tensions ran high after the teams returned to the field following the mid-game break. Nine fouls occurred within the first quarter of the second half, and the stadium only got louder with every passing minute. Despite the shift in atmosphere, for a long time the score stayed at 2:2. The tides only turned in the 73rd minute when, after an action created by Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres, Raphinha scored for the second time that evening.

The change in score made tempers rise even further. There were multiple yellows and even one red card given out to players on both sides. The latter fell into the hands of Frenkie de Jong after an aggressive foul on Kylian Mbappé. Seeing that Barcelona was weakened, Real began trying harder than ever to equalise the score and give themselves a chance at winning the trophy. They relentlessly attack Barcelona’s net, but every shot was defended by the ever-impressive García. Despite their efforts, Real had no choice but to admit defeat.

End Of My Barcelona Rant

El Clásicos are rarely boring, and this one was anything but. Both teams fought with all their might, but ultimately it was Barcelona who had the upper hand. For the second year in a row, the Catalan team raised the trophy of the Supercopa De España. The finale was their second match against Real this season and the first one that they had managed to win, putting the 2025/26 El Clásico tally at 1:1. Thankfully for all fans of good football, there will surely be at least one more chance for the score to change.
