Finally: Manchester United announce the signing of Baleba

A long-awaited deal

Manchester United have completed the signing of Cameroon's Carlos Baleba from Brighton, ending a marathon of lengthy negotiations in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The club confirmed via its official website that the deal was completed "subject to registration", clearing the way for the midfielder to pull on a Red Devils shirt.

Baleba, 22, has signed a contract running until June 2031, with United holding the option to extend the deal by a further season.

Few midfielders have caught the eye in the Premier League quite like the 22-year-old of late. He established himself firmly at Brighton, making 31 top-flight appearances last season.

He finished among the top 8% of Premier League players for total tackles and interceptions, and inside the top 1% for second-ball recoveries.

Those performances helped Brighton seal qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

The Cameroonian arrives to bolster a midfield United hope he can transform, with the club backing him to prove a major addition to their line-up for the new season.
