Thomas Frank has given an insight on Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer plans as deadline day nears

As we approach the business-end of the transfer window, there is a sense of urgency surrounding Tottenham as they look to bolster the squad for this season. The Lilywhites have already managed to bring in six new players in the summer for Thomas Frank. But one or two more players are still expected to come through the entry doors as the club looks to compete hard on all four fronts.

Many fans expected the North London club to bring in a new #9 when the transfer window opened. The Lilywhites were stuck with two underperforming strikers in Richarlison and Dominic Solanke in their ranks. And it was believed that Thomas Frank was open to the idea of signing a new forward before the transfer window shut.

However, Richarlison’s brilliant start to the season under the Danish tactician has forced Spurs to change their summer plans. The Brazilian looks like a man on a mission after scoring a brace and providing an assist in the first three Premier League games of the season. Thomas Frank has also showed faith in the 28-year-old by giving him game time, and it is fair to say that Richarlison is repaying the faith instantly.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank admits club is not active in the market for a new striker

Tottenham fans will be delighted to see Richarlison performing well after enduring a difficult stint at N17. The Brazil international has just not managed to replicate the same form he once showed at Everton. But it is fair to say that the 28-year-old is ‘working his socks off’ to maintain his spot in the starting eleven under Thomas Frank, following a brilliant start to the new campaign.

Now, Thomas Frank has reiterated that the Lilywhites are in no rush to sign a new forward in the coming days. Speaking in his post-match presser after the Bournemouth game, Frank said (as transcribed by Football.London),

“No, not particularly. To have three strikers in the squad can also cause problems. It’s a fine balance. I’m not saying we won’t look for another striker in a future window but I’m happy with Richy and Dom.”

Thomas Frank has clearly indicated that Tottenham are not in the market for a new striker. The Danish tactician believes that having three strikers compete for the #9 position will disrupt the harmony at N17. Not only that, but the Spurs manager also admitted that he is ‘happy’ with Richarlison and Dominic Solanke for this season, as they ensure a ‘fine balance’ to the attack.

It is fair to suggest that Thomas Frank has taken the right call by relying on Solanke and Richarlison for this season. The pair complement each other well, and they also tend to provide a different dynamic to the attack. Also, signing a new player would disrupt Richarlison’s confidence, which is the last thing Thomas Frank wants to do right now.
