A statement from angry Fiorentina ultras on Thursday urged director Daniele Pradé to ‘follow’ Raffaele Palladino out of the club and blamed Rocco Commisso for his decisions, telling the President: ‘Wash your mouth!’
Fiorentina ultras from Curva Fiesole reacted to Palladino’s dismissal with a harsh statement published on Instagram.
“After years of silence, trust and sacrifice, we find ourselves once again facing yet another display of arrogance and incompetence by a club that has shown no respect for either Fiorentina’s history or for those who defend that shirt every day: the fans. The Curva Fiesole has always been there,” the ultras said via Sportitalia.
Ultras wanted Palladino out, so his resignation did not upset them. At the same time, however, they are worried about a lack of vision at the Stadio Franchi.
“We have accepted incomprehensible decisions. We’ve watched our best players join Juventus without raising ideological barricades, just to avoid creating tension, only out of love for the shirt,” they continued.
“We swallowed the disgrace of the logo change, treated like some sort of social media manager’s game. We endured the arrogant and distant attitude of a management that, especially recently, has never engaged in a genuine dialogue with its people. We endured the sporting sabotage that happened in January a few years ago. We accepted the departure of the dressing room leaders, who loved this city, for a sporting project that miserably failed just months later.”
President Commisso had criticised the fans’ chants against Palladino and Pradé earlier this week.
“We gave everything, without even asking for anything in return,” the ultras replied.
“And now, we have to even listen to unacceptable words about us? Dear President, before speaking about the Curva, wash your mouth. The Curva Fiesole is heart, voice, and sacrifice. It’s true passion.
“We had chosen the path of silence until now, to avoid hurting Fiorentina. Today, that silence ends. Once again this year, we’ll bid farewell to our best players, and we’ll continue drafting without direction, a project, or a vision.
“On the other hand, we had long seen through the human and professional qualities of the man who built and managed the team over the years: Daniele Pradé. The symbol of a sporting failure that has gone on for years. The primary reason for the growing disaffection of an entire fan base.
“Director, if you have a shred of dignity, which we seriously doubt, follow Palladino’s example and get the hell out! And you, President, who only cares about revenues and infrastructure when it comes to football, have surrounded yourself with yes-men, entirely unfit to manage a city like Florence.”
