FIVE clubs want Dutch Forward this summer

West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League didn’t just cost the club top-flight football. It opened a mad scramble for their best players. Nobody has attracted more attention than Crysencio Summerville.

The 24-year-old Dutch winger scored 5 goals and set up another 4 in 31 appearances for the Hammers last season. Then came the 2026 World Cup. Summerville used the tournament in North America to remind everyone exactly what he can do. Two goals and two assists across four games for the Netherlands before Morocco knocked them out in the round of 32. By the time he flew back to London, the queue of interested clubs had grown considerably longer.

West Ham initially placed a £50 million valuation on the winger. That figure existed before the World Cup. Now, according to reports from The People’s Person, the hierarchy at the London Stadium may push for even more. Relegation cuts both ways here. Financial pressure pushes the Hammers towards a sale, but a massive multi-club bidding war gives them genuine leverage.

Understanding the global race for the West Ham winger

Manchester United were the first to move with something approaching seriousness. Journalist Ben Jacobs, via FootballTransfers, reports that United made club-to-club contact with West Ham. It was exploratory. Nothing formal yet. Any real progress likely depends on Marcus Rashford leaving Old Trafford first, as United are currently focusing their budget on restructuring their midfield. United manager Michael Carrick apparently views Summerville as the perfect option to rotate with Matheus Cunha on the left wing.

Liverpool moved fast once United’s interest became public. Wide options dried up quickly for them this summer. Yan Diomande chose PSG, Mohamed Salah left for Saudi Arabia, and CaughtOffside reports that FSG have now sanctioned a serious move for the Dutchman as a concrete £50 million alternative.

Chelsea are firmly in the mix, too. Simon Phillips revealed that the Blues have already held preliminary talks with West Ham and discussed throwing potential swap players into the deal to lower the cash price. Then The Guardian broke the news on 4 July that Fulham had formally entered the race. It is a proper domestic scrum. Three London clubs and a trip up the M62.

Which other European clubs are linked to Summerville?

PSG make things far more complicated. Fabrizio Romano confirmed the French champions made contact with West Ham, and Canal Supporters claim sporting director Luis Campos is driving the interest. The Mirror reports PSG could bid around £43 million, though CaughtOffside suggests they have also explored a massive £130 million double deal to package Crysensio Summerville alongside Mateus Fernandes.

Galatasaray present a completely different proposition. Turkish outlet TRT Spor reports that the Super Lig champions are exploring a loan rather than a permanent transfer. They are wary of the massive fee and Turkey’s strict foreign-player registration limits. ReadWestHam rightly assessed this as a deal that only benefits the Turkish side. West Ham need cash now, not a temporary departure.

Roma monitored the situation throughout June. They are willing to offer around £30 million to £35 million. It falls way short of the asking price, but the Italians calculated that West Ham’s financial strain might force them to accept a lower bid. AC Milan, Napoli, Marseille, and Villarreal have also been tracking the player via TransferFeed, though none have made formal contact.

Summerville’s contract runs until 2029, meaning West Ham can technically hold firm. However, reports from The Guardian suggest a release clause exists in the region of €47 million. Any club with that money ready to go can bypass negotiations entirely. He cost £25 million from Leeds United in August 2024. The Hammers are going to make a profit.
