Five Premier League players to watch in Week Two

The Premier League is entering its second weekend after a fascinating first set of matchups, which included title holders Arsenal smashing newcomers Coventry City. Fellow newly promoted teams Hull City and Ipswich Town both picked up wins in the opening weekend over Manchester United and Sunderland, respectively. 

Week Two looks to promise more action and goals, with Crystal Palace hosting Manchester City on Friday, Aug. 28, in the first match of the week. Week One saw 30 goals scored across four days of action, and several players will be looking to add to their goal tallies or kickstart their campaigns. Here are five players to watch as Premier League action continues in Week Two. 

1. Erling Haaland, Manchester City

After scoring seven goals in his debut World Cup for Norway, Haaland failed to get off the mark in Manchester City's opening match against Bournemouth. The forward tallied 27 goals in the league last season, winning yet another Golden Boot award. 

The Norwegian star looks to rebound in Week Two against a Crystal Palace side that let in two goals in their opener against Everton. In five league appearances against Crystal Palace, Haaland has scored eight goals, giving the forward a big boost ahead of his match. 

2. Savio, Tottenham Hotspur 

Former Manchester City winger Savio signed with Tottenham during the summer transfer window, and the Brazilian has already opened his account with the struggling London side. Tottenham routed Charlton Athletic 5-1 in the Carabao Cup, which saw Savio record a goal and an assist in his first appearance for the club. 

Tottenham looked abysmal in week one against a surging Brentford, but Savio can provide the spark that manager Roberto de Zerbi is looking for. The Brazilian winger will hope to make his first start for Tottenham in the league this weekend against Newcastle.

Savio is known for his explosive pace and technical abilities, and his attacking presence will provide Tottenham with a much-needed boost after their sloppy first performance. 

3. Cole Palmer, Chelsea 

Cole Palmer had a frustrating 2025/26 Premier League season, as the Englishman faced multiple injury spells. He looked like his old self again as Chelsea beat Fulham 3-2. 

The attacker recorded a goal and an assist in the first match, and a match-up against Brighton, who lost a key defender over the summer, could see Palmer add to his tally for the season. Palmer is an enticing player to watch as Chelsea rebuild under Xabi Alonso. The Englishman linked up well with both Joao Pedro and newly signed Morgan Rogers in the Blues' attack. 

4. Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United 

Despite a resurgence under Michael Carrick in the latter half of last season, Manchester United lacked fluidity against newly promoted Hull in the first match of the season. Ipswich are up next for the Red Devils, and winger Bryan Mbeumo will look to open his scoring campaign in his second match. 

Mbeumo had a fine preseason, netting two goals against Atletico Madrid in a 2-1 win. The Cameroonian missed out on the World Cup with Cameroon failing to qualify, giving him plenty of rest ahead of the new season. In his maiden campaign for United, Mbeumo scored 11 goals and assisted three times. 

5. Christos Tzolis, Arsenal

Arsenal picked up where they left off after winning the 2025/26 Premier League season, with a 3-0 win against Coventry City. New signing Christos Tzolis shined in the win, looking lively on the wing for the Gunners.

Tzolis showed his pace on the wing against Coventry, while also cutting inside several times to prey on a weak defense. The Greek international scored 17 goals and provided 23 assists for Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League last season, and he'll look to notch his first contributions for Arsenal against a weak Aston Villa.
