Manchester United are expected to oversee several squad changes this summer across both the first team and academy setup.
Midfield remains one area that could see movement, especially with Casemiro already confirming he will leave the club at the end of the season.
At the same time, a number of younger players are now learning more about their immediate futures.
Fleetwood Town have officially confirmed that one Manchester United loanee will now return to Old Trafford following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
In a retained list announcement published on the official Fleetwood Town website, the League One side confirmed that four loan players would return to their parent clubs.
One of those was Ethan Ennis.
The winger joined Fleetwood on loan from Manchester United last summer in search of regular senior football.
He went on to enjoy an impressive spell.
Ennis quickly became an important player for Fleetwood during the campaign.
The 21-year-old was rewarded for his performances by winning the club’s Supporters’ Player of the Year award.
He featured regularly across the season and gained valuable experience in senior football.
That development will likely be viewed positively inside Carrington.
Manchester United have increasingly focused on using loan moves to prepare academy talents for first-team football.
Ethan Ennis mainly operated as a winger throughout the season but also showed versatility in attacking areas.
His return now leaves Manchester United with an important decision to make regarding his future.
Another loan move remains possible.
A permanent transfer cannot be ruled out either.
However, pre-season under Michael Carrick could give Ennis another opportunity to impress first-team coaches ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Fleetwood’s retained list also confirmed the departures of several senior players.
They also thanked all outgoing members of the squad for their contributions.
For Ennis, attention now turns back towards Manchester United after a breakthrough year away from Old Trafford.
