Despite the tightly contested matchup, PSG took Barcelona out of their element as stated by the former president of the Spanish club, Joan Gaspart.
“We can’t spend the entire match defending — our style is very attack-minded,” Gaspart told Jijantes FC. “But against a team like PSG, Barça lose the fluid rhythm they’re usually known for.”
Moreover, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on his side falling short of at least taking a point from the reigning UEFA Champions League winners.
“We can’t say we are at their level,” Flick said (h/t FCBarcelona.com). “We will learn from it; we will have to do better against quality teams. This game will help us a lot in the future. The whole team has to defend and attack together, be involved. For PSG everyone wants the ball and everyone knows how to use the space.”
