Former Chelsea player names manager target who would 'definitely get the players’ respect'

I think I agree with Glen Johnson when he says that Cesc Fabregas would “definitely get the players’ respect” at Chelsea.

And to be honest for me, this is going to be the most important thing about the next permanent manager of Chelsea. They need a personality and name that will demand their respect and someone they will listen to and buy into. If they fail to do that, they could be in big trouble next season.

These players are immature and can often be very pedantic. They need someone to come in and instil some discipline, but they need someone they can believe in and respect. Fabregas is certainly a good shout on that front, but I think it’s pretty clear he wont be coming to manage Chelsea any time soon.

Johnson on new managers

In words quoted by SPTC today, Johnson said:

“Both [Andoni] Iraola and [Cesc] Fabregas have credentials, having Premier League experience as a manager is huge whereas Cesc knows the club a lot better and as a former player, would definitely get the players’ respect.”

Chelsea are in a pickle with their strikers – they have a few on the books, but only one looks any good. Ben Jacobs put out his latest information on the striker situation this week.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has become the latest journalist to predict that things could get better very quickly at Chelsea. Pretty clear he speaks to Chelsea and pumps out their PR on the regular!
