Martin Jorgensen, a former Serie A and Denmark star, feels Manchester United ‘didn’t play’ for Rasmus Hojlund, who can now thrive at Napoli, also thanks to Scott McTominay and Kevin De Bruyne.

Former Fiorentina winger Jorgensen shared his view on his compatriot Hojlund, who joined defending Serie A champions Napoli from Manchester United on deadline day.

Man Utd ‘didn’t play for Hojlund’

“If he finds a team where he can play and be helped to grow, he can do well,” Jorgensen told Radio Kiss Kiss via TMW.

“It was difficult in Manchester because the team wasn’t playing for him.”

Hojlund took just 14 minutes to score his first goal for Napoli earlier this month and has already made three appearances as a starter with the Partenopei.

McTominay and De Bruyne key to Hojlund’s development, says Jorgensen

“Napoli is more competitive. With McTominay or De Bruyne, who can also send him through the goal, the way he likes to do,” Jorgensen concluded.

Jorgensen, 49, spent several years in Italy, playing for Udinese and Fiorentina.

The former Denmark international netted 44 goals and provided 40 assists in 335 appearances in Italy’s top flight.

Hojlund spent one season in Serie A at Atalanta before joining Manchester United in a €75m deal in 2023.

The new Napoli striker netted 10 times in 34 appearances with La Dea in the 2022-23 campaign.
