Tottenham Hotspur are still looking to offload Yves Bissouma as West Ham United circle

Tottenham Hotspur had quite a busy 2025 summer transfer window in which they brought in several new players to bolster the squad for Thomas Frank, while also overseeing the departures of some of their players.

However, Spurs still had some of their work left uncompleted by the time the market shut down. One such operation on which the North London side was working but was unable to complete in time was the departure of the midfielder Yves Bissouma, who is currently out with an injury, but who has also not been a part of Frank’s plans even when fully fit.

In fact, the new Lilywhite coach has also criticized the Malian international for his lack of discipline, and it is highly unlikely that he will become a part of the coach’s plans any time soon.

In such a context, the midfielder continues to be linked with a move away from Tottenham, and recent reports have identified West Ham United and Everton as the clubs best placed to make a move for him in the winter transfer window.

Keith Wyness names the club favorite to land the midfielder

The former Everton CEO, Keith Wyness, who now runs a consultancy for big football clubs, believes that among these clubs, the Hammers are better placed to get the Malian international. While talking to Football Insider podcast, Wyness explained why he believes this to be the case:

“I think the club that’s probably favourite in the race for Bissouma is West Ham.

“I just think that he would want to stay in London. That’s what I’m hearing, that the family would be keen to stay where they are in North London, so there’d be no uprooting there.

“Also, Moyes is now in a strong position, particularly with midfielders, so I don’t think he’d necessarily have to take a chance on somebody coming back from an injury, whereas I think West Ham probably do. So I think it points all the way towards West Ham.”

Another aspect that can push West Ham to sign Bissouma is that the player has already worked with their coach, Graham Potter, during his time at Brighton, and the two individuals might already have a good relationship. On the other hand, Everton and David Moyes might be more wary about making a bet on a player who will be returning from an injury in January.

Furthermore, West Ham have not had a very good start to the season, and the Hammers might be looking for some winter reinforcements to enhance their team for the second part of the season. For now, it remains to be seen how the story develops, and where Yves Bissouma would be playing in the coming months and years.
