Tottenham continue to face institutional uncertainty as interested parties eye investment opportunity

Tottenham Hotspur have been facing a lot of uncertainty about their institutional future ever since the former long-standing Executive Chairman of the club, Daniel Levy, decided to step down from his position.

This episode has raised a lot of questions about a possible change in ownership structure of the club, even though the current majority ownership holders, the Lewis Family, have made it clear that they have no plans of letting their status change.

Two parties who have already shown an interest in making an investment in the North London side are PCP International Finance Limited and a consortium of investors led by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited.

Meanwhile, there might be some other groups looking to make an investment in the Lilywhite club as well. This was clearly the opinion of the former Everton CEO, Keith Wyness, who now runs a consultancy for elite football clubs.

Keith Wyness beliefs a tug-of-war is going on behind the scenes

Talking to FootballInsider247 in a podcast, Wyness expressed his belief that parties from the USA and the Middle East were competing for a stake in Tottenham:

“I know they even appointed Rothschild as advisors about bringing investment in, about doing sales. I have heard very good rumours from sources of a duel between a Gulf group and an American group very recently, vying to get control. Numbers that are eye-watering in terms of the offers, and there is no smoke without fire.

“There’s certainly been something going on. Is this a negotiating tactic from the Lewis family? We just don’t know. I’ve heard rumours that Daniel had been blocking some of the investment coming in.

“Could there just be a minority investment situation coming in that could then lead to somebody having the rights to buy it later on?

“So in all these things, while they say there’s no sale being discussed, it doesn’t mean to say they’re not looking at bringing in partners or investment or that they may have an offer that they can’t refuse.”

With Daniel Levy’s departure, a lot of things are expected to change at Tottenham, irrespective of whether the ownership structure of the club changes or not. Still, a change in ownership can bring a significant amount of money to the club, which will allow them to bring in more, better players to the team and to compete for the big titles regularly.

Some portion of the fans have also expressed their displeasure with the way the Lewis Family have run the club, and these comments from a voice as informed in English football as Wyness would certainly make them happy.

However, for now, it remains to be seen how these matters progress from here, but despite all this uncertainty, there is no doubt that this is quite an exciting time to be a Tottenham fan, as the club is embarking on a new journey, both on, with Thomas Frank leading the team, and off the field.
