Milan will count on a new striker right as the January window opens, as they have come to terms with West Ham to onboard Niclas Fullkrug, who’s already taking the medicals, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto report (via SOSFanta).

The Rossoneri will bring him in on a six-month loan with a €13/14M option to buy. They’ll cover his €1.3M salary for the next six months but won’t pay an initial fee. They managed to avoid inserting an obligation to redeem him.

Fullkrug will be looking to bounce back at Milan following an injury-riddled spell at West Ham, during which he has scored 3 times and provided 2 assists in 18 appearances. Instead, he was way more productive in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen, and Hannover, netting double-digit goals in a season four times.

The brass zeroed in on the German marksman a while back, especially given the favorable conditions, but Massimiliano Allegri would have prioritized Moise Kean and personally contributed to the chase. The Fiorentina are in limbo because of their terrible results and an upcoming change at the top. However, the star will likely stay in January and assess his future in the summer.

The veteran and other potential early signings by the Rossoneri and Cagliari will be granted a special waiver, allowing them to be available on January 2nd, the day before the transfer market session starts, so they won’t be penalized for having an early match, Sky informs.

Our Take on Fullkrug and Milan

It’s an uninspiring signing but extremely cheap. He’ll add some variety to their frontline, provided he stays healthy. There surely must have been a middle ground between him and Kean, though.
