Jadon Sancho left Manchester United on deadline day, joining Aston Villa on loan for the 2025/26 season.
The response from fans was overwhelmingly positive. Many saw his time at the club as disappointing and were happy to see him move on, calling him one of the worst signings in their history.
Despite Manchester United’s preference for a permanent transfer, Sancho opted for a loan move. The deal keeps him on his £250,000 per week salary, with Villa covering 80% of those wages.

This wasn’t a sudden decision either – he had been interested in a switch to Villa for months and turned down multiple offers from other clubs over the summer. Early in the window, Chelsea even paid a £5 million fee just to pass on signing him.
There’s now real pressure on Sancho to turn things around at Villa. He was once seen as one of England’s brightest talents and this loan spell is likely his last chance to rediscover that form. If he can’t do it now, there may not be another opportunity waiting for him.
After being introduced at Villa Park, Jadon Sancho hasn’t made the best impression on the fanbase. Supporters were quick to notice he seemed uninterested during his first interview.
And the 25-year-old has already come under fire from former Villa player Gabby Agbonlahor, who reminded him just how much is at stake for his future.
Agbonlahor said to talkSPORT: “For me, I look back at Jadon Sancho. At Dortmund, 158 games, 53 goals, 67 assists he got for Dortmund.”
"It's make or break."

“Manchester United, it didn’t work out. 83 games, 12 goals, six assists. Not a great record for an attacking winger.
“Then Chelsea, only 41 games, five goals and 10 assists. His stats are obviously getting worse and worse.
“His contract is up at the end of the season, Manchester United have the option to extend by one year. It’s make or break.
“If he doesn’t put in a top season for Aston Villa, your £350k per week will go down to £50k per week at your new club.”
“The problem is Rashford is similar – one game they’re unbelievable and then next week they’re not running around and don’t fancy it,” added Agbonlahor. “That’s been the problem with Sancho and if he does that at Villa he won’t play.”
A lot of Manchester United fans would agree with Gabby Agbonlahor’s comments regarding Sancho being responsible for his career declining.
A public dispute between him and Ten Hag highlighted issues with his attitude which led to his departure from Old Trafford.
The signs were there even before joining Manchester United but were ignored by those in charge of transfers at the time.
