Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus shares thoughts on January transfer speculation

With a return to action on the horizon, Gabriel Jesus’s future at Arsenal is once again under discussion. This time, he has addressed growing talk of a possible January exit.

The Brazilian forward is back training and looks sharp. Despite this, there are already stories circulating about a potential move away from north London.

Arsenal have plans to ease him back into the squad before the winter window opens, with reports suggesting they could be open to selling if a suitable offer comes in.

Jesus recently mentioned the idea of one day returning to Palmeiras. Now, he’s spoken openly about his situation and where he stands heading into January.

Gabriel Jesus open to seeing out Arsenal contract

Gabriel Jesus has said he’d be happy to see out his current contract at Arsenal, which runs until 2027. Arsenal are pleased to have him back in training, and Jesus himself seems ready to return and get involved again.

Palmeiras have been linked with a move for Jesus, but the striker seems set on staying in London until the end of his contract. When asked about a return to Brazil, Jesus told Globo Esporte:

“It’s a connection of great gratitude on both sides, right? Both from Palmeiras and from me. But more than that, I think it’s also admiration, because I’m very grateful to Palmeiras, it’s the club I support.”

However, while he still thinks fondly of his former club, he stressed that a move isn’t in his immediate plans:

“I’ve already made it very clear to some professionals there that one day I will return. Not for now. The Gunners haven’t made any final decisions about what they’ll do with Gabriel Jesus yet.

Mikel Merino set to start in North London derby With Gyokeres expected out

With Viktor Gyokeres unlikely to feature in the North London derby, Mikel Merino is expected to step back into the striker role for Arsenal.

Despite that, his recent outing against Sunderland left plenty of questions. Leading the line, he failed to register a shot on target and gave the ball away 13 times. It’s not the kind of performance that will give Mikel Arteta confidence heading into such a crucial fixture.

Tottenham will likely come into this match looking to disrupt Arsenal’s rhythm early, so Merino and his teammates will need to hit the ground running if they want to take control of this contest.
