Galatasaray make offer for Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes remains central to Manchester United’s plans after another summer in which his future has attracted significant attention.

The United captain produced an exceptional 2025/26 campaign.

He helped Michael Carrick’s side return to the Champions League and collecting the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.

Fernandes also made Premier League history, registering 21 assists to break the previous single-season record of 20 held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

His final assist came against Brighton on the last day of the campaign, providing another reminder of just how important he remains to United’s attack.

Despite that importance, speculation surrounding his future has continued.

United were prepared to leave the decision with Fernandes when Al-Hilal made a huge approach last summer, but the club’s position has since changed considerably.

Recent reports suggested United would now reject approaches for their captain, and a new development indicates they are actively trying to secure his long-term future at Old Trafford.

According to The Athletic, Galatasaray have made Fernandes a lucrative contract offer worth around €20 million (£17.1m) per year.

However, the Portuguese international currently wants to remain at Manchester United and has entered talks with the club over a new contract.

Fernandes’ existing deal, agreed in August 2024, runs until the summer of 2027 and includes an option for another season.

His previous €65m release clause, which was available to clubs outside England earlier this summer, has now expired.

United maintain that Fernandes is not for sale and that they have received no formal contact from another club regarding a transfer.

The 31-year-old joined United from Sporting CP in January 2020 and has since made more than 300 appearances, becoming captain ahead of the 2023/24 season.

He has won both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup at Old Trafford while establishing himself as one of the club’s most productive players of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

With Galatasaray attempting to tempt him away, United’s contract discussions now represent a significant statement about how highly Carrick and the club value their captain.
