Genoa have provided injury updates on star players Mateo Retegui and Ruslan Malinovskyi following problems picked up against Frosinone.

The pair limped off in the 1-1 Serie A match played at Marassi on Saturday.

Italy international Retegui sprained his ankle and was forced off the field at the 54th minute.

Initial tests show it is largely just a bruise and he should be available within a couple of weeks, aided also by the fact he is suspended for the next Serie A game regardless.

As for Malinovskyi, the Ukraine international creative midfielder suffered a thigh strain and medical staff confirmed there is a lesion to the femoral bicep.

He is expected to be out of action for circa a month, which also gives Malinovskyi very little time to fully recover ahead of his nation’s participation in the Euro 2024 tournament in June.

Genoa are comfortably mid-table, although the gap between them and the relegation zone is now only 10 points.
