Goalkeeper movements across Europe are quietly reshaping the market as clubs reassess long-term plans between the posts.

Scouting networks have stayed active even when no formal bids materialise, keeping doors open for future windows.

Several past targets are now finding new clubs, changing the landscape of potential opportunities.

One familiar name previously linked with Old Trafford has now taken a decisive step in his career.

Genoa have officially confirmed, via their website, the acquisition of goalkeeper Justin Bijlow from Feyenoord, finalising a deal for the Dutch international’s sporting rights.

The move brings an end to Bijlow’s long association with the Rotterdam club, where he developed from academy prospect into first-choice goalkeeper.

Born in Rotterdam on January 22, 1998, Justin Bijlow spent his entire development at Feyenoord, going on to make more than 150 first-team appearances.

During that spell, he gained extensive experience at the highest level, featuring in the Champions League, the Europa League, and the Conference League.

His time at Feyenoord was also marked by silverware, winning seven national titles and establishing himself as one of the most decorated goalkeepers in Dutch football.

Justin Bijlow progressed through the Netherlands’ youth international ranks before earning his senior debut, going on to make eight appearances for the national team.

He was also selected for major tournaments, being included in the Netherlands squads for the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 European Championship.

Despite his strong pedigree, injuries and competition meant speculation around his future never fully disappeared.

That speculation previously included Manchester United, with Bijlow revealing in 2023 that contact had been made by the Premier League giants.

At the time, United were exploring goalkeeping options amid uncertainty surrounding their long-term plans in that position.

However, no formal approach ever followed, something the goalkeeper addressed publicly while remaining respectful of his then club.

Bijlow said, “I don’t want to talk about it too much, it’s just quiet now.

“There was just contact. Manchester United have not made an offer to Feyenoord, but what I say: I don’t want to talk about it out of respect for Feyenoord.”

Those comments suggested early-stage interest rather than concrete negotiations, and United ultimately chose not to pursue the deal further.

Now, with Bijlow joining Genoa, the chapter linking him to Old Trafford appears to be firmly closed.
