Genoa have opened talks with Lazio for Ecuadorian forward Felipe Caicedo.

As reported by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio last night, the Rossoblu are looking to sign a new forward for coach Davide Ballardini’s squad, who did little to impress in their loss to Inter on the weekend, and have identified Caicedo as a strong option.

Talks between the two clubs opened yesterday and Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has offered the 32-year-old Ecuadorian a two-year contract, but he will have to be aware of the keen competition from other interested clubs.

Coach Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that he only needs two strikers in the squad, which are set to be Ciro Immobile and Vedat Muriqi, so it’s likely that the Ecuadorian forward will leave in this transfer window, with less than a week remaining.
