Multiple sources in Italy claim that Napoli and Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour will undergo surgery due to a groin injury, so he won’t play again in 2025.
Napoli midfielder Gilmour will undergo surgery to recover from a groin injury.
According to several sources in Italy, including Il Mattino and Sky Sport, the Scotland international has decided to go under the knife after a specialist visit in England earlier this week.
Sky Sport Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Gilmour will undergo surgery in London on Monday.
Napoli are expected to provide an injury update on Gilmour, including his recovery time, after the operation.
However, the Scotland international won’t play again in 2025 and, predictably, he’ll only return to action between the end of January and the start of February next year.
Antonio Conte is dealing with an injury crisis in the middle of the park, as Kevin De Bruyne and Frank Anguissa will also be forced to the sidelines for several months.
