Santiago Gimenez is only the third player in Milan’s club history to have scored in both of his first two Serie A matches following his winner in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona, matching a feat previously achieved by Christian Pulisic and Andriy Shevchenko.

Gimenez matches Pulisic and Shevchenko with Milan winner

It wasn’t the most comfortable of victories for the Rossoneri, but they picked up their fourth consecutive win across all competitions, and their fourth in fifth in Serie A with a 1-0 over Verona.

Gimenez scored the only goal of the game after a neat exchange between Rafael Leao and Alex Jimenez in the penalty area. The Mexican was on hand to nod home on the goalline after having the ball put on a plate for him by his Portuguese teammate.

Gimenez, who joined in a permanent deal from Feyenoord in January, also scored in his second appearance for the club: Netting the second in an eventual 2-0 win over Empoli last weekend.

He now requires a goal in the upcoming match against Torino to become the first player ever to score in each of his first three matches for Milan in Serie A.
