INEOS and the Glazer family face renewed criticism over Manchester United’s decline, with supporters questioning whether the club’s expensive restructuring has delivered meaningful improvements.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s football operation has overseen sweeping staff cuts and another costly transfer window, while the Glazers retain majority ownership.

United’s debt reached approximately £1.15 billion in September, including £375 million in outstanding transfer fees, despite £191.7 million spent on summer recruitment.

Yet Michael Carrick still lacks balance across his squad. No specialist left-back arrived, leaving United exposed when Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu became unavailable.

The midfield rebuild has produced mixed results.

Youri Tielemans assisted against Sabah and created two big chances against Atletico Madrid, but questions remain about his mobility when United are pressed aggressively.

Andrey Santos initially struggled for opportunities despite his substantial fee, before earning a start alongside Tielemans and Carlos Baleba during Sunday’s Bournemouth defeat.

Baleba offers the ball-winning athleticism supporters wanted, but an ankle injury delayed his competitive debut until October’s Tottenham draw.

Even free signing Karl Darlow has done little to alter the wider concerns.

Carrick’s side have won just two of their opening 12 matches, losing 4-1 at Como before Sunday’s 3-0 humiliation against Bournemouth.

Now, another squad departure has been confirmed elsewhere in the Glazers’ sporting portfolio.

Glazers officially release new signing

The Glazer family’s NFL franchise, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have officially released quarterback Brett Rypien from their practice squad.

According to the club’s announcement on 27 October, Tampa Bay signed running back Barika Kpeenu in his place.

Rypien joined on 30 September as emergency cover after starting quarterback Baker Mayfield suffered a thumb injury.

Mayfield returned against Carolina on Sunday, making the 30-year-old surplus to requirements after four weeks without a competitive appearance for Tampa Bay.

Kpeenu, previously with the franchise during August’s preseason, returns after recording 24 rushing yards from six carries in two exhibition matches.

The decision concerns American football and has no connection to Manchester United’s transfer plans.
