Tottenham star Xavi Simons is hoping to prove his worth in the Premier League this season

Tottenham managed to end the transfer window on a positive note after landing Xavi Simons before deadline day. The Dutchman is seen as one of the best talents in Europe, and landing him is regarded as a major coup by the Lilywhites. At one point, the 22-year-old was on the cusp of joining Chelsea in the summer, with personal terms also being agreed with the Blues.

But the deal fell through for one reason or another. Spurs then saw an opportunity to hijack the deal and lure the attacker to N17 instead. Signing Simons is one of the last bits of business Daniel Levy handled as the chairman of the club, and it is fair to say that it might be one of the best bits of business Spurs have done in recent years.

Now, all eyes will be on the Netherlands international as he looks to make his mark at N17. Simons has also suggested that he prefers to play as a No. 10, but he would be happy to play anywhere on the pitch under Thomas Frank this season. For now, there is a strong belief that the Danish tactician will play Simons out wide on the left flank.

Tottenham signing Xavi Simons might be the bargain of the summer

Tottenham are preparing for a new era at N17 under Thomas Frank as they look to build on their Europa League success this season. The Lilywhites have managed to bring in some quality players in the summer, and one of those names is Xavi Simons, whom the North London club signed from RB Leipzig. He is going to play a crucial part in helping Spurs compete on all four fronts this season.

Now, John Wenham has hailed Tottenham for signing the Dutchman on a cheap his summer. Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said,

“Saying that Simons is £51m, I mean, that just seems like a great bit of business when you see some of the fees involved with other players this summer. So, it’s a huge credit to Tottenham for seemingly getting this deal the line.”

The Lilywhite Rose owner added,

“Only six months ago that he was being linked to some of the biggest clubs in world football. So, Tottenham bided their time, they’ve got the player and they’ve got him at a great price.”

John Wenham believes signing Simons for just £51m is a great bit of business. The Lilywhite Rose owner points out that the Dutchman was linked with top clubs in recent months, and yet Spurs managed to bring him in for not a lot of money. Wenham praises the North London club’s strategy to land the 22-year-old, as Daniel Levy showed patience and conviction to sign Simons.

There is a sense of excitement around N17 as fans eagerly wait for the international break to end. The new Spurs No. 7 has already indicated that he aims to win titles in North London and give his all for the club. So, fans will hope that he delivers on his promise and plays a crucial role under Thomas Frank.
