Grenoble officially sign former Manchester United winger

Former Manchester United players continue to find new clubs across Europe this summer.

Another ex-Red Devil has now officially completing a fresh move.

At first glance, some supporters may have expected the latest deal to involve Alejandro Garnacho after Chelsea signed the winger last summer and speculation has continued over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

However, the latest transfer concerns another former Manchester United wide player whose career has taken a different route since leaving Old Trafford.

Former United winger begins new chapter

Grenoble Foot 38 confirmed on their official Instagram account that they have signed former Manchester United winger Dillon Hoogewerf.

The 23-year-old arrives on a free transfer after leaving Dutch side Vitesse, where he successfully rebuilt his career over the past two seasons.

Grenoble highlighted Hoogewerf’s development at both Ajax and Manchester United before welcoming the Dutch attacker to the Ligue 2 club.

Hoogewerf joined United from Ajax’s academy in 2019.

He was regarded as one of the club’s brightest young attacking prospects.

During his time in Manchester, he scored 21 goals across the academy age groups but was unable to force his way into the senior squad before leaving for Borussia Monchengladbach in early 2022.

His spell in Germany proved difficult, with the winger remaining in the reserve setup before earning a move to Vitesse in 2024.

That switch finally provided Hoogewerf with regular senior football.

He made 60 appearances, scoring nine goals and establishing himself as an important member of the Dutch club’s first team.

Following the expiry of his contract this summer, Grenoble moved quickly to secure his signature as they strengthen ahead of the new Ligue 2 campaign.

The French side finished 12th last season and will hope Hoogewerf’s pace, experience and renewed confidence can help them push further up the table.

For the former Manchester United youngster, the move represents another opportunity to continue building the professional career he has worked hard to establish since leaving Old Trafford.
