Napoli have been in contact with Genoa to make an enquiry regarding striker Albert Gudmundsson according to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday.

The Iceland international has been one of the revelations of the 2023-24 Serie A season, chipping in with 14 league goals in 34 matches for an average of 0.43 goals per 90 minutes. He has also created a highly respectable strike partnership with Italy international Mateo Retegui.

According to La Gazzetta, Genoa value Gudmundsson at a minimum of €30m.

Gudmundsson, Napoli and Osimhen – Inter and Tottenham also watching

For Napoli, however, a lot depends on the future of last season’s Capocannoniere, Victor Osimhen. Reports throughout the 2023-24 campaign have suggested that the Partenopei could be set to cash in on their prize asset this summer, which could leave the club with a fair amount of cash to reinvest.

Napoli could also potentially include former Brighton centre-back Leo Ostigard in a player-plus-cash exchange, according to Tuesday’s report.

Gudmundsson is certainly not short of suitors, as Scudetto winners Inter have also reportedly been sourcing out a potential move, however La Gazzetta suggest that that particular idea has reached somewhat of an impasse.

Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League have also been linked at various stages of the year, however, Gudmundsson himself revealed that he would ideally like to stay on in Italy and in Serie A.
