Napoli have officially signed Miguel Gutierrez from Girona FC on a permanent basis for a reported fee of €20m including add-ons.

The left-back had arrived on Monday morning to start his medical tests at the Villa Stuart sports clinic in Rome.

Once those were completed, he put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

His arrival was announced first, as is traditional at Napoli now, by President Aurelio De Laurentiis on social media.

Moments later, the formal statement was published on the club website.

Napoli add Gutierrez to squad

Gutierrez just turned 24 last month and was a regular for the Spain Under-21 side, playing a key part in the Olympic squad too.

A product of the Real Madrid youth academy, he was sold to Girona for €4m in 2022 and flourished.

The cost of the transfer is reported to be €18m plus a further €2m in add-ons, but Girona will only get 50 per cent of that, the rest going to Real Madrid.

Medical tests were particularly important, as he sustained an ankle injury in May that required surgery.
