'Happy for him'- Thomas Frank praises impressive Tottenham midfielder who stood out against West Ham

Tottenham fans are in fantasy land after seeing their team beat London rivals West Ham 0–3 away from home. The Lilywhites are now joint top of the Premier League and have kept three clean sheets in four games already. Goals galore, solid defensively, and a manager bringing the best out of his players… Spurs fans used to pray for times like these.

One player who stood out against the Hammers was Lucas Bergvall . The Sweden international ran the show for Spurs in the middle of the park alongside Joao Palhinha. Playing in a slightly advanced role while interchanging with Pape Matar Sarr, the 19-year-old showcased his quality in the final third when it mattered most.

Bergvall scored his first Premier League goal for the Lilywhites at the London Stadium, rising high to head home after a late run into the box. Not only that, the 19-year-old also provided an assist for Spurs’ third, justifying his selection in the starting XI.

Thomas Frank took notice, heaping praise on the talented midfielder. Speaking after the game (via BBC Sport), Frank praised Bergvall’s display:

“He was really impressive. I’m so happy for him. His work rate, his energy, his enthusiasm – and then he scored a fantastic goal.”

Frank was full of praise for Bergvall’s ‘impressive’ performance against the Hammers. The Danish tactician highlighted Bergvall’s work rate and his determination to be involved in every positive move the Lilywhites produced. He also noted the 19-year-old’s ‘fantastic’ header, which showcased a different dynamic to his game.

Now fans will hope Bergvall can continue this form as Spurs prepare for Champions League football. The Lilywhites face Villarreal at home in their first group-stage game, and the Sweden international is bound to play a crucial role for Frank’s men.
