Henrikh Mkhitaryan joins Roma full-time on free transfer

Premier League club Arsenal confirmed on Monday that midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has joined Serie A outfit AS Roma on a free transfer.

The move was expected after the 31-year-old spent the 2019-20 season with Roma on a loan deal. Arsenal terminated Mkhitaryan's contract by mutual consent to allow him to complete the switch.

Mkhitaryan joined the Gunners from Manchester United in January 2018 as part of a transaction that included forward Alexis Sanchez moving to United. While with Arsenal, Mkhitaryan tallied nine goals and 13 assists. He found himself out of favor with the North London side last September, however, and landed an exit via Roma.

Per talkSport, Mkhitaryan notched nine goals and five assists in 22 Serie A appearances during his first season with Roma. Roma finished the campaign fifth in the league table and eight points off fourth-place Lazio.
