Benjamin Sesko’s move to Manchester United is very close to happening

The 2024/25 season left all Manchester United fans disappointed. 15th place in the Premier League, a loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, and now out of Europe in 2025/26 were big setbacks to fans like us. The arrival of Ruben Amorim mid-season brought us some confidence, but the team’s balance remained disturbed.

Rasmus Hojlund disappointed us with his performance last season. The midfield looked tired, and the defence was weak. Still, hope remained alive because we know Manchester United never give up and are an elite club historically.

The club did show initiative and momentum in the summer transfer window. Players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were brought in as reinforcements. Young Diogo Leon has also arrived at Old Trafford, and recently, in the Premier League Summer Series, United won the trophy by drawing 2-2 with Everton.

However, even in that match, we saw that the lack of finishing still hurts the team. Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount gave the lead, but Ayden Heaven’s own goal showed that problems still remain.

Benjamin Sesko: The spark of the future

In this environment, some news of relief arrived for all of us United fans. Fabrizio Romano clarified earlier on his YouTube channel that Benjamin Sesko has said “yes” to Manchester United. Rejecting the claims of Newcastle United, he said that Sesko was United’s priority from the beginning, and the Slovenian also wanted us. The Athletic has also confirmed this news, and that means the deal is now in the final stage.

Meanwhile, just recently, the reputed journalist confirmed that United and Leipzig have reached an agreement and the Slovenian will be a Red Devils player now. The 22-year-old striker has already agreed terms with our club till 2031, and the deal will be worth €76.5m plus €8.5m add-ons. He has given his patented ‘Here We Go’.

Talking about the qualities of Sesko, he is a 22-year-old striker, powerful, fast, and very sharp inside the box. Be it a header or a run-in-behind, Sesko’s timing is accurate. He can leave any defender behind, and his confidence in front of the goal is worth seeing. The Slovenian fits perfectly in Amorim’s high-line pressing and direct attacking style.

Will Manchester United’s future change with one decision?

Sesko choosing United while Newcastle United are playing Champions League next season is a big deal. Perhaps he knew that United are in trouble right now, but in this trouble, there is also a chance for him to shine and be the main man. Maybe Amorim has assured the Slovenian striker that he will give him the responsibility of number nine and make him the fulcrum point of this new project.

United desperately needed a striker like Sesko. Hojlund tried last season, but could not become a reliable striker. If Amorim gives Sesko the right position and role, he can become a striker of 20+ goals a season. The Slovenian’s arrival will not only boost the attacking threat of the team, something that they have lacked badly in 2024/25. United are currently searching for their identity, want to come back to the elite level, and perhaps Sesko will the spark that will light up this club again.
