Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is looking to turn the club’s fortunes around following UEL success

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has gone through a fair share of scrutiny during his time at N17. The Englishman is used to the loud boos that ring around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium whenever he is shown up on the big screens during games. But the club chairman is still hoping that he can turn the Lilywhites’ fortunes around in the coming years.

There is no surprise why the Spurs fans dislike Daniel Levy so passionately. The North London club went on an eight-year trophy drought when became in charge of all the major decisions at N17. Not only that, but the Lilywhites then endured a 17-year wait for their next major trophy, with fans running out of patience with how the club was operated.

However, last season’s Europa League success has given Levy a lifeline at N17 following years of near misses and heartaches. The Spurs chairman is keen to build on the historic achievement, and he has also said that the Lilywhites will look to fight hard for the Premier League title and the Champions League title under Thomas Frank.

Andros Townsend still thinks Daniel Levy is the right fit for Tottenham

There is no denying the fact that Daniel Levy has converted Tottenham into a commercial giant off the pitch. The Spurs chairman has also invested a lot of money into state-of-the-art training facilities, as well as, a new stadium. But the results on the pitch have indicated that the Lilywhites are nowhere near the level of other top clubs that they are competing against.

However, ex-Spurs player Andros Townsend still believes Daniel Levy is the best in the business at what he does. Speaking to talkSPORT, Townsend said,

“I’ve said it before and I am not afraid to say it.. I’ll get some stick, but I think he’s the best chairman in the Premier League by far. Where he’s taken Spurs from then to where they are today, it’s chalk and cheese.”

The ex-player added,

“I remember ten years ago, Spurs were a mid-table club, playing in front of 25,000, not generating enough funds to be able to compete at the top level. Now they have a brand-new stadium and brand-new straining ground. They are competing at the top level, and they are in the Champions League and won the Europa League.”

Andros Townsend believes Daniel Levy is the best chairman in the Premier League. The ex-player points out that Levy has taken Spurs to a new level, securing the club’s status as one of the best in the league. Townsend also acknowledges that the club chairman has built a new stadium and a new training ground, as well as, helped the Lilywhites win the Europa League.

There are a lot of fans sitting on the fence when it comes to making a judgement about Daniel Levy’s time at N17. Some might say his off-the-field negotiations have helped the club massively in terms of financial security and commercialisation. However, it is also true that Levy has neglected the problems on the pitch for a long time.
