The 2026 Europa League Final will be SC Freiburg of Germany vs Aston Villa of England. Both teams advanced to the final by winning their semifinal matchups two weeks ago.

The winner of the Europa League Final will play in the Champions League next season. Aston Villa already secured Champions League football by their position in their league table, but has not, which means this final is crucial for them.

Both teams are in Istanbul, Turkiye, for the final and have had their training sessions at the Tüpraş Stadium.

In the semifinal, Freiburg defeated Braga 4-3 on aggregate. In the first leg, Braga defeated Freiburg 2-1 in Braga, Portugal. In the second leg, Freiburg defeated Braga 3-1 in Frieburg wth two goals from Lucas Kubler and a goal from Johan Manzambi.

Aston Villa faced Nottingham Forest in the Europa League semifinal and won the tie 4-1 over two legs. In the first leg, Nottingham Forest defeated Aston Villa 1-0. In the second leg, Aston Villa defeated Nottingham Forest 4-0.

Freiburg and Aston Villa have never played against each other. Aston Villa will play their first European final since the 1982 European Cup Final, where they defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 to win their only Champions League trophy.
