Los Angeles FC hosts Inter Miami this Saturday, Feb. 21, at the LA Memorial Coliseum at 9:30 p.m. ET in the 2026 MLS season opener.

Son Heung-min's team started the season on a positive note by defeating Real Espana with authority 6-1 on Tuesday in the first leg of the round of 32 of the Concacaf Champions Cup. Son scored via a penalty, while Denis Bouanga scored a hat-trick.

Lionel Messi's team, meanwhile, has not played an official match yet, but they played three friendly matches in South America. They lost 0-3 to Alianza Lima in Peru, won 2-1 against Atletico Nacional in Colombia, and drew 2-2 against Barcelona SC in Ecuador.

Last season, both teams qualified for the playoffs. While Inter Miami reached the MLS Cup final and were crowned champions, LAFC was eliminated by Vancouver Whitecaps in the conference semifinals.
