Kieran Tierney has made it clear he plans to stay at Celtic long-term, vowing to supporters, “I see myself here for the rest of my career”…

Six years after his £25 million transfer to Arsenal, where injuries hindered his progress and kept him from reaching his full potential, he has now returned to his boyhood club. Now that the Scotland international has came back to where it all started for him, he aims to compensate for the time sidelined by unfortunate injuries.

He has committed to a lengthy contract lasting through 2030, with the possibility of further extension. Tierney isn’t looking too far into the future but insists Celtic is the only place he wants to be.

Speaking to The Celtic Star and other fan media outlets at Celtic Park yesterday afternoon, Tierney said: “You don’t come back to your home at 28 and think about going somewhere else again. Obviously in football, you never know – I learned that the first time around.”

“I grew up never thinking I’d leave Celtic. But things happen. For me, I’ve signed a long-term deal, so I definitely see myself being here for the rest of my career.”

Tierney added: “To be successful here is to keep Celtic at the top. That’s the ambition – plain and simple. Keep Celtic at the top, that’s what matters most to me.”

“I don’t know if I had solid plans. Like I said, in football anything can happen. But you’re always thinking, ‘Can it happen?’ or ‘When’s the right time?’ This time just felt perfect.”

Today, Tierney alongside his new Celtic teammates will feature in their fifth pre-season encounter against Newcastle United in Glasgow’s east end. A tough test awaits for the Scottish champions before they fly out to Italy next week to compete in the inaugural ‘Como Cup.’
