Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has his say on Newcastle United's takeover.

Rangers boss Gerrard has been linked with the Newcastle job since the takeover was completed.

With Steve Bruce looking likely to be moved aside, the new owners will be looking for a manager to start their adventure with.

Since joining Rangers, the former Liverpool captain has done everything and more to replace Celtic at the top. Gerrard has not just done well in the league either. His cup and European runs have impressed the media and football fans.

Gerrard has expressed many a time that he wants to be Liverpool manager at some point but would Newcastle be the correct step up in his development, possibly.

Gerrard has had his say on the rumours on him linked to the Newcastle job and about the takeover.

"I think it’s interesting, what’s happening at Newcastle."

"I think if anyone deserves a break it’s the Geordie fans. So I’m sure that excitement levels are very high down on the Toon."

"And obviously everyone connected with the game is looking in with interest, to see how that develops."

"But from a personal point of view, I don’t really get involved in speculation. And I wish Steve Bruce all the best."

LFCTR Verdict

Unless he goes to United or it's to Liverpool's detriment then I will always hope Steven Gerrard will do well. I find myself smiling everytime I see Rangers win.

I think he's earnt a job like that. Newcastle I believe wouldn't go for someone with a high status in management straight away becuase they wouldn't attract the playets to go with them instantly.

Steven Gerrard would be an ideal candidate. If he were to get the jobs long then aslong as its doesn't affect Liverpool, like knocking us out of top 4 or beating us to a title then good luck to him. Although Gerrard lifting the Premier League title up would good to see.
