Milan midfielder Luka Modric was the hero yesterday as he scored the only goal in the Rossoneri’s 1-0 win over Bologna.
The 40-year-old midfielder showed no signs of slowing down despite his age, playing the full nintety minutes and scoring the vital goal that gave his side the three points.
Speaking to the Corriere dello Sport, Italian journalist Alberto Polverosi was full of praise for the Croatian midfielder.
“If he really is forty, let’s clone him!
“Already in the first half he was Milan’s only light but in the second half he raised the bar even further.”
Modric joined on a free transfer from La Liga side Real Madrid this summer.
Corriere della Sera journalist Paolo Condo was also full of praise for the experienced central midfielder.
“Milan blesses the idea of signing Modric, who in addition to directing the orchestra by putting order amongst the various attackers, is responsible for scoring the goal that demolishes Bologna.”
Milan beat Bologna 1-0 last night but the scoreline should have been greater. It was a goal from the former Real Madrid man that separated the two teams but the Rossoneri hit the woodwork a handful of times and were denied a late penalty in a controversial VAR intervention.
