Guglielmo Vicario wants to lead Tottenham Hotspur to a strong campaign in the Premier League this season

All eyes are on Tottenham as they look to build on their Europa League success under Thomas Frank this season. The Lilywhites managed to defy all odds and end their long-standing trophy drought last season by winning the competition. And now, the North London club must ensure that they take inspiration from the historic achievement and carry on the winning momentum.

Spurs have already started the new campaign well with four wins in their opening gives games. Under Thomas Frank, the Lilywhites are looking resolute and compact. There is also less chaos on the pitch, giving players the necessary time and space to make better decisions while holding onto the ball. The impressive start to the season has also seen the North London club joint-top of the Premier League table.

The Tottenham fans will hope that this is not just a purple patch and Thomas Frank’s men can actually build on this momentum. In such a short time, the Lilywhites have already beaten Manchester City and West Ham United away from home. Not only that, but the North London club also went toe-to-toe with reigning Champions League winners PSG in the UEFA Super Cup last month.

Tottenham keeper Guglielmo Vicario outlays club’s objectives for this season

Tottenham endured a disastrous Premier League campaign last season under Ange Postecoglou. The Lilywhites registered 22 losses in the league, finishing just a place above the relegation zone in the end. The horrendous form in domestic competitions saw Spurs fans turn against their own team, with many calling for Big Ange’s head despite the Europa League success.

However, the North London club are aiming to improve their league form this time around under Thomas Frank. The same sentiment is also shared by Guglielmo Vicario, who wants his teammates to perform consistently in domestic competitions. Speaking exclusively to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vicario said,

“Two years ago, I was playing for a small club in Italy [Empoli] that gave me so much. In two seasons, I managed to win a European competition. This year, there’s the desire to make up for things in the Premier League.”

The Spurs keeper added,

“The novelty of the Champions League for many of us is a new coach like Frank, who has brought great enthusiasm and different ideas that we’re trying to put into practice day by day with a lot of focus and involvement. There are many new things, many positive things. I’m convinced we have a great season ahead of us.”

Guglielmo Vicario has outlined Tottenham’s objectives for this season, admitting that the club is aiming to endure a better Premier League campaign than last year. The Italian has also admitted that the players are still getting used to playing under Thomas Frank by implementing his ideas with focus and commitment. However, Vicario is confident that the Lilywhites will endure a strong season despite all the changes in the club.

All eyes will now be on Thomas Frank and his men when they take on stronger opponents in the Premier League and the Champions League. The Danish tactician will hope that his players take each game as it comes and try to give their all every time.
