Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze faces a tough decision as Tottenham transfer links grow stronger

It has already been a month since the season got over, and Tottenham are yet to address the problems on the pitch. The Lilywhites are facing a massive squad overhaul in the summer, but the slow approach taken by Daniel Levy is not helping Thomas Frank at all. In fact, the North London club is already playing catch-up in the transfer market while other teams sign their intended targets.

The new Spurs manager wants to make the club ‘serial winners’ in the coming years and build on the Europa League success. But that will not be possible unless Daniel Levy splashes the cash and brings in the reinforcements for next season. With pre-season just around the corner, the Lilywhites must get their act together and make a statement signing in the coming weeks.

This is the same old story that the Spurs fans have seen time and again in recent years. The club’s hierarchy is not backing yet another manager and they are setting up Thomas Frank to fail at N17 next season. The Europa League success was supposed to be used as a springboard to lure quality players in, but Spurs have failed to achieve that and are finding it tough to close the gap on their rivals.

Tottenham must bring in Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze

As days go by, Daniel Levy is reminded by the media and the fans to make a statement signing for next season. It was reported earlier that Spurs are interested in signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. The 26-year-old has a £68m release clause that Tottenham are willing to activate, and the England international is also keen to work under Thomas Frank. Yet, no deal is agreed till now with the Eagles for his services.

Now, Teddy Sheringham has urged Spurs to sign the talented attacker before next season commences. Speaking to Racing Tipster, Sheringham said,

“Players like Eze would enhance that football club. I think Eze is definitely one of those that would walk into Tottenham Hotspur and think ‘This is a proper place, I’m going to enjoy playing my football here’.”

The ex-Spurs player added,

“I think he can shine the way Eric Cantona did when he went to Man United all those years ago. He could become the main man at Spurs, and that’s the type of player you want coming into your club.”

Teddy Sheringham has suggested that Eberechi Eze will enhance the quality of the squad. The club icon added that Eze would also like to take on the challenge and play in a new environment at N17. Sheringham also believes that the 26-year-old can become the ‘main man’ at Spurs, just like Eric Cantona was when he had joined Man United years ago.

The cherry on top for the fans would be to see the 26-year-old snub arch rivals Arsenal and join Tottenham in the coming weeks. With Thomas Frank’s reputation of improving players and playing them to their strengths, Eze will most likely flourish at Hotspur Way. The England international suits the way Spurs will be set up as well, and he could make the left-flank spot his own as Heung-Min Son faces an uncertain future at the club.
