Kelechi Iheanacho spoke to Gerry McCulloch at Celtic TV for his Welcome to Celtic interview. This is the first opportunity we’ve had to hear the post deadline day signing speak about joining the club and working again with Brendan Rodgers.
Kelechi’s interview took place over at Lennoxtown after his first day at training with some of his new teammates. The new Celticstriker expressed his delight at reuniting with his former manager, as well as new team-mate Kasper Schmeichel, who he also played with at Leicester City…
On being re-united with Brendan Rodgers, Kelechi Iheanacho had this to say: “He’s been massively important in my career. He looked after me when I was in Leicester and gave me the opportunity to show my talent and help the team to win trophies.
“He’s a great manager and a great person. He’s got a good personality as well so I’m happy to play for him again.”
Brendan Rodgers had this to say about Kelechi Iheanacho when the news of the free agent’s signing was announced by the club, shorty after the transfer window closed.
“I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team. He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate.
“I am sure he will love being at Celtic and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his peak years so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team.”
Kelechi Iheanacho declared himself ready to play at the weekend against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
