Ciro Immobile could reportedly be set for a return to Serie A football after the Italian media claim preliminary contacts are ongoing with Bologna.
According to a report from the Corriere dello Sport, Alessandro Moggi, Immobile’s agent, has been in discussions with the Rossoblu about a possible move this summer.
The former Lazio striker joined Besiktas from the Biancocelesti last summer but has expressed a desire to return to Italy, with just a year left on his contract with the Turkish Super Lig side.
He scored 15 goals and assisted four in 30 league matches for Besiktas, who slumped to a fourth place finish, somewhat off the pace of rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce – who finished 33 and 22 points ahead of Besiktas respectively.
Bologna are hot on the trail of Immobile after missing out on Edin Dzeko, who is set to join Fiorentina. However, negotiations may be difficult with the Italian striker due to his high salary – but if the player is set on a return to Italy, he may be open to taking a reduction in wage.
Bologna are determined to give head coach Vincenzo Italiano a third striker to add to his ranks, alongside Santiago Castro and Thijs Dallinga – who may be able to learn a lot from an experienced goalscorer like Immobile.
The talismanic forward scored 169 goals in 270 Serie A appearances for Lazio – with a highlight being the 2019-20 Serie A campaign in which the Italian netted 36 times in 37 games.
