INEOS award €300m contract

INEOS arrived at Manchester United promising sporting expertise, structural change and a route back towards the summit.

Almost three years later, patience around Old Trafford is wearing increasingly thin.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment left the Glazer family in control while handing INEOS responsibility for football operations, making the British group central to decisions shaping United on the pitch.

The results have hardly silenced their critics.

Michael Carrick transformed United after returning in January and secured Champions League qualification, but his first full season has begun disastrously.

United have collected just five points from five Premier League matches, equalling their worst start at this stage of a Premier League campaign.

Recruitment has also come under scrutiny.

United spent heavily on Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba but failed to land another left-back despite pursuing Lewis Hall and considering alternatives.

That decision is already hurting.

Luke Shaw’s absence against Manchester City forced Patrick Dorgu into the position, yet United still lost 1-0 despite playing against ten men for most of the match.

Days later, United surrendered a two-goal advantage to lose 3-2 against Brighton and crash out of the Carabao Cup.

A chaotic Lisandro Martinez own goal then contributed to a 1-1 draw with Fulham, rescued only by Matheus Cunha’s deflected 89th-minute equaliser.

While problems continue to mount at Old Trafford, INEOS have now completed significant business elsewhere.

INEOS award major contract

INEOS E&P A/S have awarded Rosetti Marino a contract worth between €250million and €300million, according to Teleborsa via the Italian Stock Exchange.

The agreement concerns the Hejre Development project in the Danish North Sea.

Rosetti Marino will handle engineering, procurement and construction of an offshore platform, alongside its load-out, transportation and installation.

Preliminary work has already started following the agreement between the companies, with the project expected to continue through to completion in 2028.

For INEOS, it represents another enormous industrial commitment away from football at a time when their work at United remains under intense scrutiny.
