Ryan Kavuma-McQueen is a rising star in the Chelsea academy, and a piece today from the BBC claims he could soon make a debut for the Blues.

Chelsea are back to work at Cobham this week, with the mood still pretty sour after a run of four defeats put our Champions League hopes on life support.

There are still some positives to focus on, and Nizaar Kinsella of the BBC found one in the form of Ryan Kavuma-McQueen.

Kinsella says it’s “inevitable” that the attacker will “soon debut for Chelsea,” having passed his 17th birthday at the turn of the year. He’s been on the bench for a Champions League game, and has been mentioned by Liam Rosenior and Enzo Maresca in pressers.

His skill on the ball is superb, and it seems like he’s doing work in the more subtle parts of the game too. This piece says he’s being coached in off-the-ball movement, and has spoken to John Terry and Reece James about their mentality.

His debut could yet bring a bright spark to the final months of a rather grim season. That’s the levels of desperation we’re reaching at this point.
