Injury expert endorses Tottenham transfer for Italian defender with ‘ideal fitness’

Tottenham have been interested in signing Pisa SC defender Francesco Coppola

Tottenham Hotspur are set to embark on a massive summer. Qualification for the Champions League next season was seen as vital to their summer plans with several players targeted.

Now, the Hotspur Way chiefs have started identifying the crucial areas of the squad that need addressing. And it appears they are planning to bolster the defensive unit before the 2025/26 season commences.

Spurs’ need for defensive reinforcements has been accentuated following Cristian Romero’s links with Atletico Madrid. Plus, Micky van de Ven has failed to remain fit across two campaigns at White Hart Lane, while Radu Dragusin is out for the foreseeable future with an ACL rupture. So, it is not surprising that the club bosses would want to add fresh blood in their backline.

Tottenham have reportedly shown an interest in signing Pisa SC defender Francesco Coppola. The Italy Under-20 international spent this past season on loan at Serie C side Vis Pesaro, racking up 35 appearances across all competitions. He did his best but could not help Vis Pesaro achieve promotion to Serie B, as they got eliminated from the playoffs.

Now back to Pisa SC after a successful loan spell in Serie C, Francesco Coppola has emerged on the radar of Spurs. And injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has green lighted Tottenham’s pursuit of the young defender, given his clean fitness record when playing for Vis Pesaro.

“He has an ideal fitness record this season and there should be no issues with his medical,” Dr Rajpal Brar exclusively told Tottenham News.

“The only games he missed was due to suspensions or call-ups, so it’s not something Spurs will worry about.

“Moving from another league and to professional football will take some time, so they would gradually integrate him into the first-team picture and ramp up his minutes.”

Coppola seems to have done more than enough to catch the attention of Tottenham scouts. The Italian will be an investment for the future if a move does transpire. He has no top-flight experience under his banner, so Spurs may follow the same path of Luka Vuskovic and Ashley Phillips and loan Coppola out after acquiring his signature.

However, in a setback to the Lilywhites, Pisa have immediately rejected Tottenham’s advances for Coppola. They achieved promotion to Serie A earlier this month and want to keep hold of their talented youngster as they intend to battle against relegation next term.

it remains to be seen whether the North Londoners return with an improved offer for Coppola or just end their pursuit.
