Inter might not have to look far to replenish their midfield in case of some departures, as Aleksandar Stankovic has fully blossomed at Club Brugge, and they can buy him back for a relatively modest sum, Sky reports.
The youngster was sold for €10M last summer, but the Nerazzurri can recall him for €23M next summer or €25M, plus a future resale clause, in 2027. Christian Chivu has already mentored him in their youth system.
Inter aren’t planning seismic shifts, but there could be some moves on the fringes, and trusting Stankovic would be less expensive than signing a top-notch contributor from another side. Davide Frattesi will be on the market again in the summer. Andy Diouf has perked up lately, but he hasn’t starred regularly either.
The management will have to make some evaluations about Hakan Calhanoglu. His contract expires in 2027, and an extension would be likely if he stayed. Plus, the officials must decide whether to keep Henrikh Mkhitaryan or move on.
The 20-year-old cut his teeth at Luzern before heading to Belgium, where he has posted 7 goals and 4 assists in 37 games, featuring in all 8 UEFA Champions League tilts. The starlet recently voiced his attachment to the team, saying that his dream was to come back.
The fit would need some work given his traits, as he’s not too similar to any of their current players, but it won’t be a problem, considering that Chivu has made them thrive with Calhanoglu and Piotr Zielinski together, which wouldn’t work on paper. Given the coach’s track record with youngsters, the prospect’s return is a matter of when, not if.
