Inter have confirmed a fresh injury concern for Hakan Calhanoglu, who has been diagnosed with a soleus issue and is at risk to feature in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The midfielder picked up an injury during the 5-0 Champions League Final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on May 31 and continued to struggle with it on international duty for Turkey.
He failed to appear in either of the two Inter matches for the Club World Cup so far, missing the 1-1 draw with Monterrey and 2-1 victory over Urawa Reds.
This evening, Inter released a statement confirming tests showed a strain of the soleus muscle in the right leg.
It is effectively a calf injury, and although there is no lesion, it still puts him at significant risk for the rest of the Club World Cup tournament.
Inter are set to face River Plate tonight in the final Group E game, then hope to participate in the knockout rounds.
