Inter have taken a few stabs over the years and invested a good amount of money to try to find a proper Denzel Dumfries last summer, but Luis Henrique hasn’t been up to snuff and hasn’t convinced Christian Chivu.

The Dutchman has started in all but two matches so far, and his teammate has been pedestrian. Instead, the Nerazzurri gaffer has rotated a lot more regularly in other positions.

Luis Henrique risks joining the list of players who have crashed and burned at Inter while backing up Dumfries, Calciomercato informs. Juan Cuadrado, Tajon Buchanan, and Raoul Bellanova all struggled to compete with the starter and eventually left in a hurry.

The Brazilian speedster will have a month and a half to prove his worth; otherwise, he’ll be expendable in January. The Nerazzurri invested €23M to sign him from Olympique Marseille. According to Foot Mercato (via MSN), he’s already been offered to his former team, Monaco, and Olympique Lyonnais, but to no avail.

Per Fabrizio Romano (via Tribuna), no decision has been made on the winger, but his January exit is a possibility.

Our Take on Inter and Luis Henrique

In previous years, they would have been in big trouble if they had no return on two significant acquisitions like this one and Andy Diouf, but they are in a much better place now. Winning consistently cures everything after all. In his rare appearances, he has seemed a little too offensive-minded to play in such a role in Serie A, but also quite timid, which isn’t a good mix. He’s a big work in progress. They’d surely be more at ease if he panned out, as the future of Dumfries is uncertain every summer because of his release clause.
